I've decided it's high time I start blogging again. In the spirit of the holidays - and after seeing Christmas cookies flying about everywhere I look - I've gotten the craving to bake endless Christmas cookies that no one will finish off. YES!

I'll post some pics of goodies when I actually have time to make them...maybe this weekend? Here's the first one I've got planned:

Black and White cookies for Shayna...shh, don't tell her! :)

Thanks to AllRecipes.com for the pic!

NOTE: The cookies sucked. :( But the oatmeal chocolate chip ones I made were fabulous!!

What kind of fish does that make me?

Enterprise's Ones to Watch 2006

The first there? Oh, yeah. That's my dad. The genius.
That strategy of honing a niche within the broad DSP market has helped Danville Signal Processing become a very big fish in a small pond. “All businesses need to be able to answer a simple question: ‘How do we add value?’” says Clark. “If you can’t answer this question, you probably don’t have a business.”
Granted, the article is from 3 years ago, but still. So proud! :)

Accurate Ren Fest?

I went to the Renaissance Festival yesterday with Doug and KT. First, I must mention the extreme irony involved in this: Saturday, I won a contest at work. Sunday, I went to Ren Fest with 2 people. Today, I got my prize: 3 free Ren Fest tickets. Oh, irony...you have finally bested me!

Anyway, it was a good time - it was Irish Heritage weekend. We found my family's tartan colors and the area of Ireland that we're originally from, and I may have found my celtic ring. As we were leaving, however, I noticed a piece of paper under my windshield, so we stopped to grab it in case it was important. Turns out it was a Bible verse. Which, actually, is quite like the actual Renaissance. With the birth of science/technology/art/literature/you-name-it, religion became a highly debated topic and Christians had to work overtime to spread their message. Although I didn't need the Jesus messaging, I have to admit that it did feel like a somewhat honest portrayal after leaving the festival.

And now I have 3 Ren Fest tickets. What to do?

Kibble with a cause!

Great news!! So I decided to start blogging again. And yes, in case you were suspicious, my title is from a Dr. Seuss book. Anyway! This is awesome:

Kibble with a cause fills Fido's bowl

Kim Carrier drove up to the donation entrance of a St. Paul food shelf this week in a car piled high with bags of dog food. Her unusual gift reflects her unusual mission: to create Minnesota's first network of pet food shelves.

"I sometimes work at a pet supply store, and people laid off would call and ask if there is any place to get free pet food,'' said Carrier, of Minneapolis.

"I Googled and never found anything,'' she said. "So I decided to try to do something myself, and then a lot of other people jumped on board.''

Carrier launched the Pet Project in July. It's part of a fledgling movement nationally to make sure people don't have to choose between keeping food in the kitchen or Fido in the living room.
